Dragonflies galore

Since there are no interesting birds to watch at the oasis these days, Kelly Bryan took to inventorying the dragonflies... a task too daunting for me. He found an Eastern Amberwing. Apparently there's only one record for that species in Brewster Co. My photos aren't too good. I think Kelly took some better ones. Here's the best one I got.

It's a small dragonfly and there's no way I would ever have spotted it among the hordes present. Gotta hand it to Kelly.

  1. Lovely photo, Carolyn! I am going to have our daughters (Elizabeth, 9 and Alayna, 7) subscribe to your blog on their iPads. They are really getting excited about the move to Terlingua and they love wildlife. It's a perfect fit!

We're actually trying to create an oasis there too, mainly focusing on native fauna. We want to setup a ton of water catchment (roof) and put a number of guzzlers around our property for the wildlife.

Looking forward to being your "neighbor".
